Excellent shop in the old Venetian port where you can find rare books in art, history, poetry and children books in many languages. Also perfect shop for handmade Cretan gifts, paintings, copies of Minoan civilization artifacts, old historical photos of Crete and its people.

This is an unusual little shop, tucked away down an easily missed alley, and it holds lots of interesting treasures that you're not likely to find elsewhere around Chania. The big items are some great art books and reproductions of ancient pottery, but there are some delightful little gifts - I've got a simple leather key fob with Minoan designs and I've not seen anything like it elsewhere.

Very nice shop with an art gallery feel - no tacky souvenirs here, just really high quality original pieces like ceramics, paintings, maps, books, small leather objects etc. We managed to find gorgeous museum copies brought in directly from the artists at very good prices. Plus, the lovely ladies working there are very knowleageable and attentive. Many thanks for the gifts we received with our purchase - especially the very good city guide which we very much appreciated and found very informative, even after our third visit in Chania. The building itself is full of history and sometimes also hosts art expositions so be sure to check it out even if you're looking for contemporary pieces.
