F	Frank Plytas on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πάνω στην Εθνική Οδό Αθηνών-Κορίνθου, στο ύψος του Ασπρόπυργου και μετά τη γέφυρα, στα 100 περίπου μέτρα, σχεδόν αμέσως μετά το Ι.Κ.Α Ασπρόπυργου, βρίσκονται τα λείψανα της θεμελίωσης πύργου από την εποχή της φραγκοκρατίας. Τα λείψανα αυτά αποτελούνται από μεγάλους κυβόλιθους από λευκό μάρμαρο οι οποίοι προέρχονταν από αρχαία ταφικά μνημεία και ήταν ενσωματωμένα στον πύργο. Ο πύργος στην αρχική του μορφή ήταν τετράγωνος με μήκος πλευράς 9 μέτρα. Ήταν δηλαδή από τους μεγάλους πύργους της εποχής του. Οι μαρμάρινοι λαξευτοί λίθοι ενώνονται με κονίαμα και ενδιάμεσα κομμάτι πλίνθων, σύμφωνα με τη φράγκικη τεχνοτροπία. Λόγω του λευκού μαρμάρου των κυβόλιθων και, πιθανότατα, λόγω του επιβλητικού όγκου που είχε παλιότερα, ο πύργος έδωσε το όνομά του στην πόλη, που ονομάζεται μέχρι σήμερα «Ασπρόπυργος». On the National Road of Athens-Corinth, at the height of Aspropyrgos and after the bridge, at about 100 meters, almost immediately after IKA Aspropyrgos, there are the remains of the founding tower from the time of the Frankish rule. These relics consist of large blocks of white marble, which originated from ancient burial monuments and were built into the tower. The tower in its original form was square with a side length of 9 meters. It was from the great towers of his time. The marble carved stones are joined with mortar and intermediate piece of bricks, according to the Frankish style. Due to the white marble of the blocks, and probably because of the imposing volume it had earlier, the tower gave its name to the city, which until today is called "Aspropyrgos".
