★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been coming to Plakia for many years and whenever the North winds hit, Souda beach is the only place to go. And in Souda beach, this is one of the two tavernas that are right on the beach. The food is very good, with a great variety of classic traditional Greek food. It gets crowded and busy during lunch hours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Souda beach is one of our favourites in the Plakias area, and we've spent a great deal of time down there. Most of it has included Galini and our experience has been all the better for it!
As with many Cretan tavernas, it's family-run, and having got to know the family over a number of years we all love spending the day down there, and the nights come to think of it.
Cocktails, drinks, coffee and snacks can be obtained right on the beach courtesy of the very friendly beach bar, and when you're ready for some shade and a spot of lunch, just wander up to the taverna for some great home-made fare!
Once a week during the season, they also hold music and dance nights which are great fun.
In short, no visit to Plakias would be complete without Galini Taverna, and we can't wait to return and catch up with everyone!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very slow service: 40 minutes to receive a salad at lunchtime even though they were fully staffed and only 10 tables had customers. The food was just OK. The grilled pork chop had a lingering flavor of meat that is on its way to spoiling (I grill meat myself and know the flavor). It was not properly refrigerated before cooking. I can recommend the fried mushrooms, but next time I will be trying the food at the place next door.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a very nice place near Souda beach. Staff was very friendly and food was wonderful. There is a big parking lot and the beach is quiet and beautiful.
