Golden Sand Naxos - plaka beach

The drinks are pretty expensive. Ask for the price before you order

Very friendly, helpful staff, gorgeous beach. The drinks were great but the food quality could use plenty of improvement for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Luckily, there are some nice options in walking distance for dinner

The accommodation was perfect, the rooms were clean and cozy! Also the staff were super friendly! Last but not least the beach right across the street was the most rock-free area in Plaka, so it’s worth to pay a visit!

It should be free for the hotel guests * poor/standard breakfast (pre-cooked buns and mini croissant and pies, slices of edam cheese). I would expect more at this price and because Naxos is famous for its local products ? * small pool (looks bigger in the pictures) * A bit unprofessional as we were listening the conversations/arguments of the owner with the staff

I’ve been there for a drink on the beach. Apparently their sun-beds are really bad and cheap. When I pushed on the edge of the sunbed the other end hit me badly on my nose The stuff was trying to help me out. The owner tried to make jokes saying that other guests, she and her daughter were hit by it before and I should keep it as a souvenir from Greece. Really?! She said that I shouldn’t worry and all sun beds are like that. Afterwards I checked. Not all the sunbeds are like that in other places! If it happened before to other guests why you consciously keep these kind of sun-beds that can cause traumas and spoil the holidays. Moreover she charged 10€ without giving any receipt saying that I pay only for the sunbed!? Really?! and the drinks were on her. No taxi or medical assistance or a room to rest we’re not offered. Several days I look like on the picture. My holidays are spoiled. I can’t swim under water, be on the sun or at least look pretty on my holidays. Every morning I look in the mirror I have to remember about golden sand Naxos and how they don’t care about their guests.

We did not stay here but we popped in for a couple of drinks as we were at the beach. The lad serving the tables was excellent and I think he was quite embarrassed when I asked for the bill and he told me how much it was. It was probably twice as much that it should have been. We are regular Greek holiday makers so we are well aware of prices. It should have tipped us off that there were no menus or prices on display and we were never given a copy of the bill.

I rarely post negative reviews. I have sent 3 different emails to this hotel highlighting the below complaints to the owners and never received a reply. We were supposed to stay 8 nights, we only stayed 2 and never received an apology (let alone a refund). This is unacceptable. Do yourself a favour, read this review and others highlighting similar issues, look at the pictures, and stay somewhere else! - I visited this hotel with my wife during our honeymoon. The 'junior suite' we booked was nothing more than a small bedroom. No extra furniture, no extra space, no view, nothing. The room also felt dated and in urgent need of renovations. - The sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach needed to be paid for (10 euros per day), in clear contrast with what is stated on the hotel website. - The sunbeds at the beach are dated and outright dangerous (see other reviews), while just 10 meters away on the beach you can see guests of an adjacent hotel relaxing on very comfortable beach beds with mattresses. - The hotel website states that guests are welcomed with a 'Welcome drink'. This never happened. - The breakfast quality and quantity is very poor. Eggs were only available hard-boiled. Bread is defrosted, mini baguettes. - On our first night, ants came inside the room from a crack in the bathroom window and infested our beauty cases. Naxos is a natural location and there are ants, I understand this, but this makes it ever more important to fix cracks in fixtures so that those ants do not find an easy was into a room. - On our second day, when we got back to the room in the evening, we found the bed was not made. We had to make it ourselves. - The restaurant and bar close very early. On the two nights spent at this hotel at the beginning of September, we came back to the hotel around 21:30 and in both cases we found the restaurant and bar closed. To make matter worse, the staff is friendly and helpful but they did not refrain from smoking whilst on duty, right on the bar top. Also, you cannot charge food and drinks directly to the room, you need to carry cash (or cards) with you at all times and pay as you go.

A quiet and relaxing place to stay. The staff, food, and views were incredible. I would recommend to anyone looking to getaway.
