★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ένα από τα βασικά συστατικά του εδάφους της Δήλου είναι ο γρανίτης, οποίος θεωρείται αρίστης ποιότητας και για τον λόγο αυτό λατομείται από το 1928 έχοντας χρησιμοποιηθεί σε πολλά έργα οδοποιϊας. Κατά την αρχαιότητα είχε χρησιμοποιηθεί σαν οικοδομικό υλικό σε αρκετά από τα οικοδομήματα της Δήλου (όπως το μνημείο του Γρανίτη εδώ, και οι πλάκες με τις οποίες είναι στρωμένη η πλατεία της αγοράς των Κομπεταλιαστών).
 One of the main components of the soil of Delos is the granite, which is considered of excellent quality and for this reason has been quarried since 1928 having been used in many road construction projects. In ancient times it was used as a building material in several of the buildings of Delos (such as the monument of Granite here, and the slabs with which the square of the market of the Combatalists is paved).
