The cooking class was the best thing we ever did in Chania! It was such a fun experience and everyone there from the guide to the local Greek family that you cook with, were super lovely and welcoming. It’s a good mix of practical cooking and Cretan history. A very interesting and fun trip that I would definitely recommend. The view is also worth the journey into the mountains alone! ??

We took a trip to Elefonisi beach from Chania and we both especially enjoyed the guide's information on the way to the beach. When booking the trip we asked what covid precautions that were in place, and was told that everyone had to wear a mask on the bus (they did) and the bus would be booked to no more than 80%. I don't think that was the case, as far as I could see it was full. Besides that everything was well organised and ran smoothly.

Went on their olive oil and wine tour and highly recommend! So interesting to see and hear about the process all while tasting the oil (and the wines). The smaller group was definitely a good choice and I would love to take more tours they offer.

Dimitri was a personal guide to my husband and I while we were visiting Chania in December 2019. It was nothing short of Spectacular!! We went to an olive oil mill, where we tasted fresh virgin olive oil. Sublime Next we visited a replica of the Knossos amphitheater which seats 1000 and has a live spring with the cleanest eater. Above the amphitheater tucked into the mountainside, is a tiny chapel built in 1st Century. The latter half of the chapel was built in 1st Century the front portion in the 15th. Dimitri sang from a hymnal for us. It was breathtaking. I literally cried I was so moved. We visited the small Folklore Museum of Gavalochori which shows the art of lace making and everyday life for rural Cretans. As we left the museum we were encouraged to pick oranges from a museum neighbor's tree who happened to be working his garden. We did so gladly, and yes they were divine. We went on to his cousin's bakery called Poypnoe where we sampled warm bread dipped in olive oil which was washed down with a shot of Raki. This is the village where Dimitri grew up so family is nearby. As our next stop was at the local cheese maker, Graviera Kritis Cheese. Great wheels of cheese freshly made stood at attention as we ate a mound of freshly sliced bits while touring the facility, and learning of the producing and aging process. Then we sampled Cretan's version of ricotta with more fresh bread and washed down with a shot of Raki. The owner greeted us and joined in the toasting! Our final stop was at Maria's restaurant in Fres' town square next to the City Hall. We were greeted with an outdoor table set just for us. Maria served up Greek salad, an eggplant dish with small pasta bits and cinnamon chicken with her Christmas cake. Although stiffed already we could not resist Maria's cooking or her smile. She is joy. She gifted us two pomegranates from her tree. We took the hour long ride back to Chania feeling like we had made a new friend. We had. The tour was so personal and charming and delightful. Something often missing in travel these days. Book a tour ASAP. This company knows their business and their region and they do it with heart.

Ioannis (both of them) were very professional and helpful to our small group cycling tour around western Crete. It was a bespoke tour and our driver was prompt with luggage transfer, and quick to respond to us if there was anything amiss. They also helped me with my onward travels.

Andreas is a fantastic tour guide (Olive Oil & Wine Tour), he is local to the area we were in the extent that we drove past his family’s house. This gave him a deep knowledge of the culture and traditions and some fun stories about his time growing up there. On top of that, he is a certified sommelier (which isn’t even mentioned on the tour) that meant we got a first class tour of the vineyards. He also put on some great tunes for time we were in the tour bus. Thank Andreas, you made our day!

Had a great tour with Yanni through the countryside of Chania. Yanni was very knowledgeable about all the aspects of the Cretan way of life. I learned a plethora of information and had a wonderful time taking in the breathtaking views of the valley and the great conversations with Yanni and the various village locals we met along the way. I would highly recommend using GS Tours if you visit Chania!
