The temple in which the start of the '21 race was declared by the Old Patron Germanos! The raised banner is located in the museum inside the Monastery which is next to it.

In 1826 it was set on fire by Ibrahim, but the monks had managed to abandon it, saving many of its precious relics. It was rebuilt in 1828 with the addition of a third catholic church, but was destroyed again in 1844 by an earthquake and rebuilt in 1850. The church is usually closed. you must ask the monks to open it.
