Nice little museum-exposition of art and religious objects, relics, artifacts, souvenirs. Very polite reception for us and our foreign friends! The monk at the entrance gave useful guidance to our friends in English. This made very good impression to them. The view from the monument on the near by hill is unique!

The church is unique, the monastery in excellent shape and the location is breathtaking. Seeing the very flag raised by the Greek bishop Germanos in 1821 makes one shudder. Go visit for the 200th anniversary.

It is a a sombre place with historical significance, where a rag tag group of resistance fighters launched the fight that later lead to the foundation of Modern Greece. The nearby town of Kalyvryta is 5 minutes away and worth a stop.

There, in 18.3.1821, the local rebels raised the flag of the Greek Revolution War. The monastery is opened to the public and it is located in the heart of the mountains, 4 km west of Calavryta. It has a small beautiful museum inside and the whole site is very inspiring, and strongly recomended! don't miss also the Mega Spilaio Monastery located 10km north-east to Kalavryta!
