★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This building was the house of the administrator of the Metohi of Agios Panteleimon. It was built in 1914. The term "Metohi" refers to a farm belonging to a monastery (monk's monastery), in which there is usually a small chapel and residence for the monks who cultivate the particular farm.
The present metohi belonged to the monastery of Agios Panteleimon, the Russian monastery of Mount Athos. The oldest available reference for the existence of this metohi is in 1569.
Since the 13th century, the area around Sykia was a productive space of mount Athos monasteries.The organization of these farms required the attraction of cultivators, from whom it seems that Sykia was established.
