Το Ορφανοτροφείο Χατζηκώνστα οικοδομήθηκε το 1890 στην οδό Πειραιώς, μεταξύ των οδών Μυλλέρου και Θερμοπυλών, με κληροδότημα του ομογενούς εμπόρου Γεωργίου Χατζηκώνστα (1753-1845). Το κτίριο του ιδρύματος δεν υπάρχει πια αλλά διασώζεται ο ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου που είχε ανεγερθεί μεταξύ των ετών 1899-1901 στο εσωτερικό του περιβόλου του, βάσει σχεδίων του αρχιτέκτονα Ernst Ziller (1837-1923), με δωρεά της Ελένης Δημητρίου, συζύγου του εγγονού του Χαντζηκώνστα. Πρόκειται για μια εκκλησία του λεγόμενου "νεο-ρωμανικού" ρυθμού, με τους χαρακτηριστικούς πυργίσκους στις εξωτερικές ακμές.

Description:
The Hadjikosta Orphanage was built in 1890 on Piraeus Street, between Myllerou and Thermopylae streets, bequeathing it to the homogeneous merchant George Hadjikonsta (1753-1845). The building of the institution no longer exists, but the church of St. George, built between 1899-1901, is preserved inside its enclosure, on the basis of plans by architect Ernst Ziller (1837-1923), donated by Helen Dimitriou, the grandson's wife. of Handzikasta. It is a church of the so-called "Neo-Roman" style, with its characteristic turrets on the outer edges.

It is a church of the so-called "neo-Romanesque" style, with the characteristic turrets on the outer edges.
