★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very historical sacred monastery. Founded almost a thousand years ago, in a very peaceful amazing place, a few kilometers outside of Serres. The nuns are friendly, kind hearted. You should try the local delicacies and home made products they prepare, like homemade bread, loukoumi (a chewy Greek dessert), different kinds of pasta etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Great Monastery. Located 10 km north of Serres. It is reached by mountain road. The monastery is large and worth the visit. It was founded in 1270. It was burned, devastated and built again over the centuries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Μonastery of incomparable beauty. It is 1000 years old and the murals you will see are in excellent condition. It has a museum and the restoration that has been done has created an exceptional attraction of the area. If you are in the area you must visit this sacred place

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful amazing place. One of the oldest in Greece. Lots has been rebuilt due to fire and aging over the centuries. But as much as could be has been maintained as original as possible. Lovely museum, and lovely nuns. They have a little store to buy things they make like jams and liqueurs. Welcome you in and share some home made bread and Turkish delights.
Also enjoy a little trek through the forest down to running rivers and waterfalls surrounded buy massive pencil pines that would have to be 100s if not 1000s of years old.
