★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very welcoming place to stay with so much character . Our room was clean and spacious . Our private balcony overlooked Skiathos and the bay . Froffee the owner made us feel at home and she was so helpful and friendly . It was the most memorable stay of all of our travels for one month in Greece . Highly recommended.

My parents & I booked a couple of nights at Hotel Mato for my wedding on Skopelos. Because of Covid we unfortunately had to cancel the wedding & our hotel reservation. I could still cancel the reservation for free, which I did. Couple of weeks later I noticed the hotel had unlawfully charged both amounts to my card (contract stated that no pre-payment was needed). After more than 3 months of calls & emails, in which they admitted making a mistake, still no money received from them. Booking.com refunded us the money on their behalf in the end. Avoid at all cost!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked a double room for 3 weeks but had to leave after one week. The list of things that were wrong is long. First, the 'lady' downgraded my reservation on my first night and booked me into a single room, no explanation or compensation given. Two days later, there was no hot water in the property for 24 hours. Two days later, she refused to provide daily cleaning. All that with an attitude I've never seen anywhere. It culminated in her actually verbally abusing me and hitting me yesterday. I filed a police report, got help from a friendly local person to get my luggage out of there (she tried to stop me in front of other guests). This lady has some serious mental issues and will harm someone one day if she's allowed to operate. Apparently the whole town is now talking about that and everyone is as shocked as I am.
