Nice little chapel which is beautifully situated between the mountains. There is not much to see, so within fifteen minutes you will be gone again.

G	Georg Streit on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sehr malerische kleine Kirche, die früher Teil eines kleinen Klosters war, in den Bergen nordöstlich von Ierapetra. Liebevoll gepflegt mit weißem Anstrich und geschmückt mit kleinen und großen Fahnen. Die Kirche war bei unserem Besuch offen und es gibt im Inneren schöne Ikonen und Bilder anzusehen. Parkmöglichkeiten sind vorhanden und die gut befahrbare kleine Straße führt als Abzweigung von der Hauptstraße Ierapetra / Koutsounari in wenigen Minuten zu diesem Kleinod. Eine Tafel am Parkplatz informiert mit einer Wegekarte über die Umgebung und die teils leidvolle Geschichte des ehemaligen Klosters und seiner Bewohnerinnen (erste urkundliche Erwähnung im 16. Jahrhundert, Überfall auf die Nonnen im 19. Jahrhundert während der türkischen Besetzung der Insel). Very picturesque little church that used to be part of a small monastery in the mountains northeast of Ierapetra. Lovingly cared for with white paint and adorned with small and large flags. The church was open when we visited and there are beautiful icons and pictures inside. Parking is available and the small road, which is easy to drive, turns off the main road Ierapetra / Koutsounari in a few minutes to this gem. A board at the parking lot provides information about the surroundings and the sometimes painful history of the former monastery and its inhabitants (first documented mention in the 16th century, attack on the nuns in the 19th century during the Turkish occupation of the island) with a route map.
