★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a pleasant little chapel and well worth a detour down the lane to reach it (the lane unfortunately doesn't lead on to anywhere). It is just a fifteen minute walk from Areopolis. The setting is beautiful, on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Messinian Gulf and surrounded by small, stone-walled fields filled with the local vegetation (and occasionally local cattle). The church is open - something of a rarity these days - and, considering its size and simplicity, quite pretty inside. As you'll see from the photos on Google Maps, several frescoes remain in reasonable condition,. The light coming in from the south-facing door is ample to show these off well.
