Η παράδοση θέλει έναν βοσκό, τον Σάββα, να βρίσκει την εικόνα του Ταξιάρχη στο Ζάλογγο καθώς βοσκούσε το κοπάδι του. Επειδή νόμισε ότι κάποιος την είχε χάσει, έψαξε στα γύρω χωριά και πληροφορήθηκε ότι ανήκε σε μια εκκλησία στο χωριό Ωρωπός και την πήγε πίσω. Μετά από μέρες, και ενώ έβοσκε τα ζώα του, ξαναβρήκε την εικόνα στο ίδιο σημείο με πριν. Κάπως έτσι ο Σάββας από βοσκός έγινε μοναχός και κτήτωρ της μονής. Μπροστά στη Μονή και δίπλα στη στέρνα για βρόχινο νερό υπάρχουν δύο τάφοι, ο ένας είναι του Παπα-Μιχάλη που σκοτώθηκε το 1897 σε μάχη με τους Τούρκους !!! Holy Monastery of Taxiarchis.
