Ο Θησαυρός οικοδομήθηκε από τους Μασσαλιώτες για να τονίσει την αυξανόμενη εμπορική ισχύ της αποικίας αυτής των Φωκαέων. Χρονολογείται γύρω στο 510 π.Χ. και είναι κτισμένο από παριανό μάρμαρο. Ο Θησαυρός των Μασσαλιωτών ή Αιολικός θησαυρός βρισκόταν στο τέμενος της Αθηνάς Προναίας. Είχε τη μορφή μικρού ναού με δύο κίονες στην πρόσοψη και ήταν κατασκευασμένος από παριανό μάρμαρο. Είχε διαστάσεις 6,14 x 8,63 και ύψος 7,80 μ. Από τον θησαυρό αυτόν σώζονται λείψανα μιας ανάγλυφης ζωφόρου με πλούσια ανάγλυφη διακόσμηση με ανθέμια λωτού και σκηνές Γιγαντομαχίας και Αμαζονομαχίας.

The Treasure was built by the Massaliotes to emphasize the growing commercial power of this colony of the Phocaeans. It dates back to around 510 BC. and is built of Parian marble. The Treasure of the Massaliotes or Aeolian treasure was located in the mosque of Athena Pronea. It was in the form of a small temple with two columns on the facade and was made of Parian marble. It had dimensions of 6.14 x 8.63 and a height of 7.80 m. Remains of a relief frieze with rich relief decoration with lotus anthems and scenes of the Battle of the Giants and the Battle of the Amazon are preserved from this treasure.
