L	Laura Kim on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It has always been one of my dreams to learn how to surf. I chose to go with Kalo Surf school based on the amazing reviews and the experience exceeded my expectations! Andy and Julia are such a great team and make everything run smoothly. The communication and helpful information prior to the course was exceptional. Julia even helped with recommendations for different services I needed (physio, massage, yoga, shoe repair etc) in Kissamos. Andy is such an amazing teacher. I was an absolute beginner and within an hour I could stand on the board. It's all down to his clear and helpful instructions. I committed to 5 classes over a few weeks and it was a great experience! Although I suffered from sea sickness whilst out on the surf (I didn't realise how common this is) Andy and Julia were super helpful with tips to try to manage it. If you're considering surfing in Crete, use Kalo Surf!! They know all the secret, brilliant and best spots on the island. Thank you both for everything, it was such an excellent experience!

We wanted to find a school that give us some flexibility to arrange our schedules. and this was Kalo Surf. Kalo Surf is a family company, where the mother (Julia) takes care of the logistics and organizational stuff, and the father (Andy) takes care of giving the lessons. Even we saw their kids one day and they were helping in little stuff. Julia was very supportive from even before the trip. She communicate clear how can we arrange the lessons and she did not try to over charge us for helping us in the process. Besides she answered very quickly and clear. Andy was a very good instructor. Funny and a good story teller. We learned many things of Crete from him. He is also a good swimmer, I remember that in our last day, he had to rescue a random person who was drowning in the beach we were surfing. All in all, it was an excellent experience. Price was fair. Lessons were fun and worthy. They even took picture from us for free. I found this as a an extra plus. They also might take you to different beaches, when you take a multiple days course, this is also an extra plus.

They picked the best spots to go surfing every day and Andy was a brilliant teacher and a lot of fun to surf with . Because of the small groups we each had enough individual attention to make progress. Also, the duration of the lesson was just right- not too short where you feel like you’re getting pulled out just as you’re getting started and not too long so that you just can’t hack it at the end

Andy was an excellent instructor, the communication with the entire team was easy and super friendly. They were always keen on teaching us proper basic techniques and not forgetting to have fun while trying to surf. I'm sure if we continued some more days, we'd have enough skills to go surfing by ourselves. I can highly recommend andys and ana's surf school, and I'm sure I'll book courses soon again

Thanks to Andy,his sound teachings,his patience and his relentless encouragements . We are very sorry that we did not booked more lessons but next year we will go back to have some more fun with Andy??????. We experienced that we will not succeed and that there will be problems due to the language barrier. But everything was fine. In spite of the fact that only my husband and I were Russian and did not know English well, it did not stop us from learning in full. The teacher and his assistant were very welcoming. The lesson was held in a friendly atmosphere. The most important thing is that for one lesson we were able to stand on the board. We will definitely use the services of Kalo Surf again.

Julia was very punctual with the appointments. So thank you Andy and Julia for the very good experience. We definitely want more surf lessons if we're coming back to Crete!

Julia offered highly professional communication (email/WhatsApp). All equipment provided. instructor/student ratio in my group lesson was fantastic - 1:1 or 1:2! And the best part? Not sharing the line-up/waves on either day with any other surfers or surf schools.
