With its rich history it looks extremely interesting, though it was impossible to visit. The castle is closed on Tuesdays and official holidays which makes no sense as then people have the opportunity to visit and take their children. Such a shame!

Nice castle, but no information is provided and some areas are blocked off. Free entry for Europeans or if you are under 25. €3 entry fee for everyone else.

Beautiful castle but not signs with information or any guidance so unless you research the place ahead of time you will not be able to find the history of it inside. Also a lot of the areas are closed to the public.I hope in the future things will get better because it has a lot of potential

Interesting fort. Unfortunately it looks abandoned. We cannot make a visit inside.

Big fortress along the road and waterway into Lefkada. Photography is not allowed during restoration work, which is still being carried out (they work slow..) Costs 2 euro pp to visit.

A very large and beautiful fort located at the entrance to the island. Although there are no history panels, I found valuable information from a custodian located in the building near the entrance. It is a true complex, and more recent studies have found evidence of an ancient construction, long before the construction of the Sicilian Orsini at 1300. The castle was under the control of the Venetians, the French or the Turks, as were the vicissitudes of history. Destroyed by a huge fire in 1880, it ended up being bombed by Italians in World War II. An attraction is even the castle walls, which, in their thickness, allowed the construction of a church in the fifteenth century. Un fort deosebit de mare și de frumos situat chair la intrarea pe insulă. Deși nu sunt panouri cu istoricul locației, am aflat informații prețioase de la un custode aflat în clădirea de lângă intrare. Este un adevărat complex, iar studii mai recente au găsit dovezi urme de construcție din antichitate, cu mult înaintea construcției sicilianului Orsini de la 1300. Castelul a fost sub stăpânirea venețienilor, a francezilor sau a turcilor, după cum au fost vicisitudinile istoriei. Distrus de un incendiu pe la 1880, a sfârșit prin a fi bombardat de italieni în Al Doilea Război Mondial. Un punct de atracție îl constituie chiar zidurile castelului care, în grosimea lor, au permis construirea unei biserici în secolul al XV-lea.

Currently being worked on with pathways created and prevention of it crumbling away which is great. Large site with great views and history. 2€ entry but day we went it was a free entry day. Would recommend a visit and to the other castle along the same road. Open from 8am to 7pm except Tuesdays.
