Smolikas refugee , is a fantastic mountain Hut, run by two young and enthusiastic girls, Nicky and Georgia. The hut is located in the heart of the Pindus mountains , and next to the second highest peak in Greece, mount Smolikas 2637m. The hut is perfectly located within a proximity of an alpic lake, but also of the Smolikas peak. You can reach it by Palioseli via a 7km non-paved road, which is suitable also for non 4x4 cars. The hut is super clean, and the beds are comfortable, and well maintained. Food is very good, as also coffee and tea. Make sure that you carry a headlight, and enough powerbank,for charging your phone, gps,etc. There is a power generator, but the essence of the location and the Hut itself- lies within the silence and the sounds of the environment, hence the generator will only work during some hours. There is mobile coverage for all 3 major providers, but you might have to move yourself a little bit left or right depending on the network. The Hut itself might need some maintenance, or improvements here and there, but nothing to complain, on the contrary everything was well maintained and in working order. It's a well recommended place to stay, and the hostesses are very friendly, and they will try to accommodate all your requests. They love what they do, and this can be seen in all aspects Do pay a visit, you will definitely like the place.

A very nice serviced refuge in an amazing location. The food variety is not huge (2 dishes per day) but the quality was great. Very clean. Chilly in the evening, even in the summer. Bring layers of clothes, warm and cool. They provide sheets and pillows but you will need your own towel and sleeping bag. You will also need a headlamp and power bank as they don't have electricity. You can get to the refuge by hiking or driving on a 7km dirt road. Here you can start the hike for drakolimni and Smolikas peak, which are not too hard and offer amazing views.

Amazing place to rest before or after hiking to the top of the mountain. Great food, clean, and comfortable chairs and places to rest outside of the building. There was a pizza night and they made one of the tastiest pizzas I have ever eaten (This is not usually in the menu). Absolutely recommended.
