The building was recently renovated and converted to a musuem as it used to be a prison.During the renovation work, unknown old turkish baths (hamam) were uncovered on the bottom floor and work has been done to preserve them in order for visitors to be able to view and appreciate them.The first floor is dedicated to the legendary greek songwriter, singer, and buzuki player Vasilis Tsitsanis who was born in Trikala. Tsitsanis was a prolific writer and he is attributed with modernising the rebetiko sound making it more upbeat and accessible to the masses
