★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful and an interesting place. Worth a visit though don't expect to spend much time as it is quite a small site. I walked return trip from Kissamos, some of the roads are quite busy. Choose the small paths through olive fields where possible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At Potamida you will find a complex of white clay hills, which are naturally formatted. Best periods to visit April/June, September/October.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A well worth seeing place near Kissamos. You can walk near the monoliths and climb some of them a few steps. However, the monoliths are not as impressive as those from Kapadokya Turkey, but still a hidden gem in Crete.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are going to balos or elfonisi beach you absolutely must stop here as it's on the way. A very interesting natural sand dune formation, that formed when this part of Crete was under water. Looks like you are walking on the moon. Usually you are on of the only person's there. You can park your car on the road next to it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't expect much, but it's a pretty cool natural feature, and you can climb it a bit! Considering it appears on quite a lot of tourist literature, surprisingly there's no parking, no way to get to it other than by car, and no information once there.

We decided to check it out on the way back from Elafonisi. It's close to the main road so... why not? You can take an interesting photos there, especially when the evening light.
