Our dog was ill and we called this Vet on Sunday, we went and she had a fever, we took blood tests Monday and were advised for immediate surgery Tuesday, as ‘It should have happened already!’ We were told Bonnie had cancer of the womb and it has to be removed. Not once were my husband and I told our dog may die in surgery or after, we were made to believe we would collect her a few hours after the surgery. We went after the surgery, she was sleeping, we went again an hour later when Bonnie had woken up but she was dizzy, we stayed with her 15 minutes and was told they will call us when she is ready to leave, again NOT TOLD SHE COULD DIE. I went to work and went to the vet’s to see her progress at 6:30pm and she was not on her table. I presumed she was upstairs recovering but sadly she had passed as her body temperature did not rise. The Vet was nowhere to be seen (his car was outside) and his helper informed me he was about to call me to tell me she had passed. I cannot fault the young man but the Vet should have been more clear and informed us that our dog may not leave alive this day. Psychologically my husband and I could have been more prepared for what happened. We could have said goodbye but this was taken away from us and the fact we didn’t even receive a phone call proves how unprofessional this situation was.
