★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent a very enjoyable day with our tour guide Hazel, learning about the rich culture and history of the beautiful island of Lefkada.
The tour included a visit to the impressive Faneromeni monastery, a visit to the small village of Englouvi, (famous for its lentil production), a traditional Greek lunch served by Lekkada’s own Brad Pitt, a visit to a small museum which represents one man’s passionate collection of historical artefacts and world renowned linens of Karya. The collection accurately depicts how the people of Lefkada lived and toiled prior to the changes brought on by the industrial revolution.
We also visited a small church at the top of the island with its spectacular views of the seven Ionian islands and we then circumnavigated the island to get spectacular views of the more rugged Mediterranean coast line.
Hazel picked us up from our hotel and also dropped us back. It was one of the best experiences of our trip and I recommend you consider it if you want to experience a true taste of the island.
