Also called Neorio Moro Boathouse. For a small contribution of 2 euros you will have a cultural tour on the history of Crete, its different occupations (displays are in Greek and English) and the privilege of seeing very closely the perfect replica of a ship of the time Minoan (1500 BC) who sailed from Crete to Athens for the 2004 Olympics (just knowing it we are speechless… how can we imagine this ship on the water nowadays!). You will have to be indulgent in setting up the exhibition, which seems to be under development, but for an entry at this price you still cannot afford to be so demanding and that does not hamper the visit in any way.

This is a small museum located in the old Venetian boat holds but very interesting. Indeed, a special exhibition on the theme of the independence of Crete is on display there. Many texts, paintings, watercolors evoke the history of Greek independence: from the Ottoman conquest to the reunification of Crete with Greece. The entire exhibition is bilingual: Greek and English. The little extra: a hassle from the Mycean era to rebuild identically.

Great little museum highlighting the maritime history of Crete through a series of wars, battles and invasions from Venetian times all the way through to Byzantine, Ottoman and the World Wars. Mostly filled with recreations of famous ships but there are some really cool artifacts, clothes and other memorabilia. Worth a visit. Entrance cost 6 EUR.
