★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pantelis Melissinos is a third-generation sandal maker from Athens. The only other person is town with such a great pedigree is his sister Olgianna, who runs a competing store a few blocks away.
Both make quality footwear and I bought one pair of sandals from each of them.
I read several posts saying that Pantelis's shop can be extremely busy. So I thought it best to get there when the small shop opened, at 10 a.m. But they weren't open. An employee and I waited 40 minutes for Pantelis to arrive and open up.
No matter. I was able to have them make me a pair of sandals in about a half-hour. They are fine quality and I have enjoyed them very much.
Despite a change in Greek law that requires shop owners to accept debit and credit cards (to ensure sales are reported and taxed) Melissinos Art only accepts cash.
