★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It deserves 5 stars as the nature is gorgeous yet accessible. I give it 4 because of the black ugly pipes that follow the water stream and look completely out of the place. Unfortunately I have seen the same pattern in a stupendous gorge in Ikaria. Otherwise highly recommended, for kids and adults alike.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great scenery. A must do in Crete. Two hours of walk in various landscape, including amazing forests, rocks, a stream, small churches. Useful info may be found on the internet and from a leaflet at the tavern situated aprox. 150-200 m after the starting point of the trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the trail with a 5yo boy. We started at 9.30 AM an arrived at the little greek bar at the church at 11.45 AM. On the way we stopped a few times to take a dip in the waterfall pools and eat a bit. Amazing nature and scenic views. Recommended to wear sport shoes at least. Keep in mind you need to walk back as well. Little detail: the garbage bins should be emptied more regularly!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely beautiful! Easy hiking path, mostly shaded. There are nice resting areas to soak up the beauty. Clean and cold fresh water creek with waterfall. You find lots of beautiful ruins around. There is a small cafe at the beginning of the path.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely walk in the shade, between ruins of the old Myli village and an interesting trail descending toward Rethymno. We did the whole trail from the southmost entrance to the bottom and back to the top in a couple of hours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite an easy walk but views are great. Nice cafe to stop off at on the way back up to catch a break. Opens at 10am.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful gorge with lots of shade and exciting trail over a variety of paths. You have to cross the stream that runs down the entire gorge several times by bridge, log or rocks and pebbles strewn around the water, which makes it really interesting. Ruins of the houses are accessible. The only downside for me was the amount of tubes running along the stream. I understand they are for irrigation and wateraccess throughout the gorge but they are an eyesore, especially the ones obviously not in use or bits and pieces that are still laying around that could be cleaned up.
Overall challenging but doable. Passed quite some people with small kids.
We started at entrance 1. Crossed a tavern quite soon but there's also one passed the exit (that you can also start at tho). From this entrypoint its mostly downstream so going back up was a bit exhausting ?. You could ask the cafe at the exit to call a taxi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small beautiful easy gorge walk just a few klm drive from Rethymno....a great half day to spend if you just want a quick hike.
Some of the wooden small bridges were ruined from weather that need to be fixed and you will need to walk over some rocks to get past the little river at times but other than that the gorge is even nice for a small picnic with children. I think this gorge is safe all year to pass as we hiked through it in February. ?
