★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A short 6km gorge, but quite picturesque. All the length you walk stream bed (stones, pebbles and occasionally some gravel), which is usually dry since mid June. If it is not, there is practically no chance of circumventing the water. In the upper middle there's a short part with boulders which require some path seeking, no climbing but maybe 2/3 spots where you need to pull yourself up. I walked it in sandals, but don't recommend it: hard sole boots will do better. Both ways will take more than 4 hours. I suggest to start early afternoon (despite almost no shade) to finish in the shade of the evening.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely area to go visit. Stone/ rockfalls have made the main paths alongside the gorge unusable. When the gorge is dry you can walk in it, but you need to be quite sure footed. No good for littlies/ anything involving wheels as we found out!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place. We walked al the way from Rethymnon old town to the gorge. Badly there was still to much water and we had to turn back.
Take drinking water and snacks with you and good shoes.
