★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Villeneuve βρίσκεται στην Προβηγκία, περιοχή της Νότιας Γαλλίας και συγκεκριμένα στον ποταμό Gard. Είναι χτισμένη στην δεξιά όχθη του Ροδανού ποταμού απέναντι από την Avignon. Ο πληθυσμός της πόλης είναι περίπου 13.000 κάτοικοι. Βρίσκεται 70 km περίπου από τα αεροδρόμιο της Μασσαλίας. Στην Villeneuve και στις γύρω από αυτήν πόλεις υπάρχουν αρκετές ελληνικές οικογένειες από τη Μάνη.
Οι πρώτες σκέψεις για αδελφοποίηση των δύο πόλεων ξεκίνησαν το 1996, με πρωτοβουλία του εκπαιδευτικού κ. Κώστα Αγραπίδη, ο οποίος δίδασκε στην περιοχή σε ελληνικό σχολείο και την αρωγή του κ. Ψωίνου. Το πρώτο ταξίδι της Δημοτικής Αρχής Γυθείου στη Γαλλία πραγματοποιήθηκε το 1996, η επίσημη υπογραφή της αδελφοποίησης έγινε στη Γαλλία στις 6 Ιουλίου 1997. Οι Γάλλοι πραγματοποίησαν το πρώτο τους ταξίδι στην Ελλάδα τον Αύγουστο του 1996 για τις πρώτες επαφές και ένα χρόνο αργότερα στις 21,22 και 23 Αυγούστου 1997 υπεγράφησαν τα επίσημα έγγραφα της αδελφοποίησης στο Γύθειο.

 Villeneuve is located in Provence, in the south of France, on the river Gard. It is built on the right bank of the Rhone River opposite Avignon. The population of the city is about 13,000 inhabitants. It is located about 70 km from Marseille Airport. In Villeneuve and the surrounding towns there are several Greek families from Mani.
The first thoughts for twinning of the two cities began in 1996, on the initiative of the teacher Mr. Costas Agrapidis, who taught in the area in a Greek school and the help of Mr. Psinos. The first trip of the Municipal Authority of Gythio to France took place in 1996, the official signing of the twinning took place in France on 6 July 1997. The French made their first trip to Greece in August 1996 for the first contacts and a year later on 21, On August 22 and 23, 1997, the official twinning documents were signed in Gythio.
