I got a car from Israel and when I got there I did not get the car claiming that I do not have an international license. Although an Israeli driver did not need an international license in Greece, I made sure to contact Israel so that they would get me an international license. They sent me the international license and they did not give me the car because they wanted the car. I was forced to leave as I came to them and look for a car in another agency. I spent half a day off my vacation. They are just not serious. I jumped to a nearby Hertz branch and I rented a car. By the way, at Hertz, they showed me that an Israeli driver does not need an international license

Hesitant to book a car through Modi Rent given the negative comments on 'Google review', but finally and despite a car breakdown I recommend this company. TOP quality-price ratio !! we broke down in the Peloponnese (luckily after arriving at our vacation spot) Modi Rent delivered a replacement car to us within 24 hours. when the car returned Marianna and her boss apologized a thousand times for the trouble we had, they paid us the cost of the 600 km that we had exceeded the contractual limit. and Marianna also kindly drove me to the metro so that I could return to my hotel. The cars do not have the quality of the big brands like Europcar or Hertz but for the difference in price I will go back to them next time!

For your own sake, steer clear of this place. Not punctual, unprofessional and plain rude. We had reserved a car and were told we would get it by 8am. We were there 15 minutes earlier and when 8am came round the corner no one was there. We called to see if they were going to come but they said that they'll open at 930am and hungup the phone. We waited an hour and thirty minutes, the store was finally open, we approached the guy and asked why we weren't given the car at 8am. He then refused to give us a car to rent, i suppose asking a simple question politely is considered an insult. We didn't want the car at that point. We went to the main office and reported the whole matter, they were empathetic but I doubt that anything's going to happen. Anyway, i have no idea why a person with very low social skills would be put in a position where he would interact with customers. Learn from my mistake and find another rental agency, absolutely disgusting service.

Don’t do it to yourself. It’s not worth saving a few euro. ASK YOURSELF, why is this cheaper?! The worst experience I’ve had in the last three weeks in Greece. I booked with him two weeks ago. They didn’t have my car, gave me a manual transmission car half the size, I was positive, made it work. I gave them another try this weekend. They called and downgraded my car twice the day before, saying they can’t help it, it was a last minute booking. Booking last minute or not, I did it on their website as they requested. While I’m here and they’re on the 10th minute of my refund, another guy is having the same issue. Last time I was here, same problem. So, it’s systemic. He offers them a coffee and says it’s the busy season. I think he does this every single day. He has it down.

The best place to rent a car in Athens. The cars are generally in good condition but don’t expect the perfection of the big rental companies, but of course , the prices are not extortionate like the big rental brands. The cars are reliable and , most of all, the staff is friendly and always willing to help.

Dodgy. Was drawn in by the low price, before travelling from the UK I phoned and double checked the booking and location of pick up. I was assured that the office was close to the airport, about 20 minutes - it was NOT. The office in an hour drive into the centre of Athens. Once there the forms for renting took about 45 minutes to complete. The car was not at the office location. We were then driven another 20 minutes across Athens to a body repair shop and handed a battered Citreon car. It was in terrible condition, dents and scratches, body filler and grey patches of paint all over the car, one of the rear doors couldn't open from the inside, the mechanic had the drivers door off and we had to wait to have this fitted in the searing afternoon heat. By now I have a tired wife and children, all fed up and getting increasingly hangry. I wanted to refuse to take the vehicle, but I was in the middle of Athens, unable to speak the language with a tired family. I took the car. Engine warning lights would be on all the time and although the car worked, I was in trepidation every time we started. Upon further inspection the car had faint lettering that could be seen (ash from the fires), the word that it spelt was Policia, clearly Modi are taking ex police cars and passing them off as rentals. I would doubt the provenance of all of their cars, the safety quality, let alone the poor customer experience from the airport... Not a great start to any holiday - one to avoid.

Avoid when possible. Not to be trusted people and unsafe cars. Very unpleasant experience. Just imagine starting your holidays with all this tense as soon as you land at Athens airport. THE CASE: No matter what you book, they will give you a downgrade and try to convince you that it was an upgrade. Like in our case we booked a 7-seater car and we got a normal 5-seater Citroen and the employee tried to convince us that it was an upgrade from our booked car. There was no good faith because of the downgrade, it seemed that they do that all the time. THE CAR: I already stated that the car was not at high safety standards. It was probably a decommissioned car from the Spanish police (see images). The photo showing the back of the car shows the marks from the removed stickers saying “POLICIA”. The roof of the car had clear marks at the place where the sirens usually are. You could even see marks inside the car possibly from the bars separating the front from the back seats. The car had scratch inside out and it didn’t seem well preserved at all. The Service and Engine lights in the car’s dashboards were on. THE EXCESS: I am used to renting cars in the UK where you pay a fee for insurance and the excess might go to 0. They wanted us to pay 60 euro for insurance but the excess would drop from 800 to 450 euro and not to 0 and he presented this as a once in a lifetime opportunity. We agreed to pay the 60 euro to reduce the excess and then he asked us to pay the 450 euro excess as a deposit, which didn’t make sense, at least to us. At some point, the guy received a call from someone and he told us that we have another solution, by paying a 700 deposit and reducing the excess to 0. That was before knowing that we have to pay the excess as a deposit. As soon as we agreed on the 60 euro and 450 excess he was pretending that the other offer never existed. We didn’t know that choosing the offer with the 60 euro insurance and 450 euro excess we would still have to pay the excess as a deposit. THE NEGOTIATIONS: He was just saying nonsense all the time. For example, the upshift and downshift buttons on the steering wheel were just to rest our fingers. The guy was trying to convince us that the 7-seater car had small space for the luggage in the boot (even when folding the 2 chairs at the back). He was basing his argument on the fact that our luggage was incompressible. Still makes no sense. When telling the guy that the service and engine lights were on he told us that they have taken the car for service and the lights just haven’t been turned off the light. IN A NUTSHELL: The price might seem cheaper for what you get but in the end, you get a downgraded car that matches the price of other rental companies. Avoid if possible!!!
