★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Μια από τις παλαιότερες γυναικείες μονες του νησιού χρονολογειται ήδη από τον 15ο αιώνα οπότε έχουμε και την πρώτη γραπτή μαρτυρία σε νοταρικο έγγραφο κατά το οποίο ο Αντώνιος Μοσουλης κληροδοτησε στο μοναστήρι κάποια κτηματα. Λόγω των υφισταμενων τότε νόμων της Ενετοκρατειας η Ορθόδοξη εκκλησία δεν αναγνωριζοταν από τους κατακτητες γιαυτό και τα μοναστήρια αναγκαζονταν να εγγραφονται ως ιδιοκτητη περιουσία. Ως ιδιοκτήτες της μονής για πολλά χρόνια αναφέρεται η οικογένεια Μοσουλη. Κάτω από το σημερινό καθολικό του μοναστηριου υπήρχε παλαιότερος ναός όπου βρέθηκε και η εικόνα της Αγίας Ευφημιας. Η παράδοση αναφέρει ως κτητορες της μονής δύο ιερείς, οι γυναίκες των οποίων μονασαν σ' αυτήν όταν χηρεψαν. Μάλιστα η εξευρεση της εικόνας της Αγίας αποδίδεται σε θαύμα, μια που η Αγία Ευφημια παρουσιάστηκε στον ύπνο της γηραιοτερης από τις καλόγριες και της υπέδειξε το σημείο όπου βρισκόταν.
One of the oldest nunneries on the island dates back to the 15th century when we have the first written testimony in a notarial document during which Antonios Mosoulis bequeathed some estates to the monastery. Due to the then existing laws of Venetian rule, the Orthodox Church was not recognized by the conquerors and monasteries were forced to register as property. The Mosulis family has been mentioned as the owners of the monastery for many years. Below the current katholikon of the monastery there was an older church where the icon of Agia Efimia was found. Tradition mentions two priests as the owners of the monastery, whose wives worshiped in it when they became widowed. In fact, the discovery of the image of the Saint is attributed to a miracle, since Saint Euphemia appeared in the sleep of the oldest of the nuns and indicated the place where she was.
