In 1863 it became Stavropigia and in 1885 it was converted into parochial. He had the Metamorphosis of the Savior in Romania. In 1936 it was united with the Metropolis of Dryinoupoleos and Pogonianis and today it is incorporated into the Metropolis of Ioannina. The monastery was a great spiritual center since the 13th century and for about 400 years, and it also had a great fortune. In 1817 it was almost deserted, since the monks refused to give their property to Ali Pasha, went to Corfu. Some fled to a mountainous area of the prefecture of Achaia and in memory of their hometown they gave the new settlement the name Vella (Achaia). The monastery was rebuilt in 1911 by the then Metropolitan Vellas and Konitsis Spyridon Vlachos, with the foundation of a Primary school. From there graduated teachers and priests. Large buildings were built with classrooms and internship, where the students stayed free of charge. The Sacred School functioned until 1989.
