Lovely homes. Outside of that, the museum was certainly not worth the €5 price tag. Unfortunately, the exhibits lacked continuity and/or understanding and the lack of explanation left the exhibits to stand alone and deliver, which didn’t happen. Time better spent elsewhere.

The museum is mostly recommended for those who want to discover life in high-class society in post-independence (post 1835) Greece. Not so much about king Otto, who lived here some time, but rather wealthy families of the time and works of art and furniture. Pretty pleasant and interesting visit. The cafeteria looks absolutely wonderful, unfortunately I had no time to stop, but i'll be back.

A lovely small museum that houses the modern history of Athens. There are two internally connected buildings. The older one was built in 1833 and it was used as the home of king Otto when he arrived at Athens (1836 - 1843). The second building was built in 1859. You need a guided tour to fully understand and enjoy it. Highly recommended for Greeks.

2 floors with paintings and furniture. Little with English description. On the ground level there is interactive screen in English which is the best point of this institution.

In my opinion it is a bit disappointing. There is just one room with one video and one interactive screen that explains you the history of the city. For the rest, everything are rooms with random draws and that just show you the reality of the richest people of the city. I would recommend them to try to explain an story and to make it more interesting.

This is a small charming museum with some unique art & antiques in recreated rooms from 19th century nobles. Some walls & rooms could do with a bit of repair and/or uplifting .... and should you be looking for many interactive exhibits then you will be disappointed ... there is one video and one interactive! However, presently I would truly recommend visiting the museum to see Konstantinos Papamichalopoulos' exhibition on the top floor ??? that breathes fresh modern air into the museum's rooms with art ... full of mythical creatures ... that is daring, colourful and truly unique! ??? Afterwards... step into the Black Duck Garden Café ... for refreshments. ??

The video room had some well presented and interesting info but the rest of the house had no interpretation and seemed to be focussed on who donated the contents rather than tell any kind of story about the city. The museum house is charming with its faded opulence but lacks any meaning or focus. A shame as it could be so much more but instead it is a crumbling storage facility for an old collection of disparate stuff.

This museum is probably the only museum in Greece where you can still see the insides of a palace! It contains several objects relating to the everyday life of the King and the Queen. The famous huge painting is somehow unreal! Some of our favourite exhibits belonged to the first residents of the building, namely King Otto and Queen Amalia who were here for some years before their move to the Royal Palace that is now the Parliament Building.Rooms with preserved ornamentation and furnishings including a fully set banquet table reflect the splendour in which the wealthy lived during the 19th century.Art pieces are numerous throughout and we very much enjoyed those.
