★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Porto Kagio is a very small fishing port on the south shore of a small and well enclosed bay in the Mani peninsula, that caters to tourism with a small offering of boutique hotels and fish restaurants. The name "Kagio" refers to quails that fly through here while migrating to Africa. It is of course peaceful and calm, except maybe when the occasional refugee raft winds up here, but even then, villagers welcome them with food and clothing. We spent only one night on our recent trip through the peninsula, but I could have easily spent much more time, to take advantage of the beach, the surounding mountains and trails, it’s overall beauty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small port in Lakonia, with not a lot to do to be fair, except a couple of taverns/cafés literally on the beach...
Quiet, remote and a good drive. The waters are warm but I’m not a fan of non-Sandy beaches, so, dealer’s choice.
All in all a nice getaway, with nothing extraordinary -for me at least...
