Ο ερειπωμένος Βυζαντινός Ναός του Αγίου Ιωάννη Θεολόγου, στον Γέρακα, ανήκει στον αρχιτεκτονικό τύπο του συνεπτυγμένου σταυροειδούς εγγεγραμμένου με τρούλο, με τρίπλευρη αψίδα, και χρονολογείται στον 12o - 13ο αιώνα. Οι δύο καμαροσκέπαστοι νάρθηκες (εσωνάρθηκας και εξωνάρθηκας), που βρίσκονται στη δυτική πλευρά του κυρίως ναού, αποτελούν προσθήκες του 16ου ή 17ου αιώνα Από τις καμάρες τους σώζονται τμήματα στη βόρεια πλευρά. Ο οκταγωνικός τρούλος του ναού σωζόταν έως τις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα, αλλά σήμερα έχουν απομείνει μόνο τα δύο δυτικά σφαιρικά τρίγωνα. Ο ναός είναι κτισμένος με ακατέργαστες πέτρες, πλίνθους (τούβλα) και συνδετικό κονίαμα, ενώ ο τρούλος ήταν ίσως κατασκευασμένος από πωρόλιθους. Στη τοιχοποιία του έχουν ενσωματωθεί αρχαίοι δόμοι που πιθανόν προέρχονται από τον σημαντικό αρχαίο ναό της Παλληνίδος Αθηνάς. Ο Βυζαντινός Ναός του «Αγίου Ιωάννη του Θεολόγου» αναφέρεται και ως Αγία Τριάδα ή Άγιος Γεώργιος.

The ruined Byzantine Church of Agios Ioannis Theologos, in Gerakas, belongs to the architectural type of the collapsed cruciform inscribed with a dome, with a three-sided arch, and dates to the 12th - 13th century. The two vaulted narthexes (inner narthex and exonarthex), located on the west side of the main church, are additions of the 16th or 17th century. Parts of the arches on the north side are preserved. The octagonal dome of the temple survived until the beginning of the 20th century, but today only the two western spherical triangles remain. The temple is built of raw stones, bricks and mortar, while the dome was probably made of alabaster. Its masonry has incorporated ancient structures that probably come from the important ancient temple of Pallinida Athena. The Byzantine Church of "Agios Ioannis the Theologian" is also referred to as Agia Triada or Agios Georgios.
