The car rental agent was very impatient and wanted to close a deal asap, meanwhile I wanted to go through all the documents. The car was old and noisy while breaking - I had fear going down the hill (which is quite common on Corfu). The seats were dirty and soaked in sea water - propably never cleaned.

If you're still wondering whether the Sapphire Rental is the best choice for your holiday, I would like to share my experience. I have booked the car via CarJet website. Meanwhile I was obliged to make a prepayment (30% of the amount). I have also chosen a special insurance offer, which was supposed to secure the deposit (800 Euro). When we arrived we were welcomed by the rental agent, who luckily was holding a sign. Otherwise you wouldn't think he will sell you the car. Surprisingly, the agent didn't know about the prepayment we had already covered. Moreover he wanted to charge us with additional 30 Euro for keeping him after his working hours - even though we arrived at 22:30 and couldn't make an agreement, because he had other clients to deal with and we needed time to make ourselves familiar with all the documents. The agent was using time pressure techniques and wanted to sell us "a better deal - no risk". Moreover, the whole deal was closed on the car hood (don't expect any table whatsoever). After calling the boss and CarJet agent, and arguing over half an hour with the Sapphire Rental agent we managed to get a fair deal and drive away with the car. It wasn't an ordered Peuegot 108 (manufactured since 2014), but a 19-year-old car. The bottom line was, it has working AC and didn't fall apart. When we were returning the car, the agent gave back our deposit BUT ONLY 200 Euro! When we noticed the mistake he explained himself that he returns mainly 200 Euros... I cannot be sure he wanted to scam us on purpose, but he didn't win my trust. I just want to draw your attention to this issue.

My experience with Sapphire Carrental was not a good one. We rented the car via Carjet and payed the 30% deposit. We arrived at midnight and at the opposite of the airport we could collect our car. But we had to pay three times the confirmed amount for a one day rental. Not confirming our contract. We had an incomprehensible conversation with the staf and decided not to hire the car. According to Sapphire it was a mistake by CarJet. But our other bookings by Carjet ware without any problems. So be aware if you book a car with Sapphire via Carjet or any other intermediar. And staf of Sapphire, it will help if you held the printed contract as shown by delivery as valid. Do not make new prices on the spot. It makes you unreliable.

I am very content with the service of Sapphire. The little Fiat Panda was new and in perfect condition. Delivery and reception was without problem. Price was competitive (=good). Communication excellent. Two things to improve: delivery full tank is better than tank half full or empty. It is better for agncy and also for the client. Insurances are sold by carjet. Sapphire should know from the bookjng system what kind of insurances already exist.

This company did not honour the price of the booking and wanted us to pay double because we could not prove our credit card was a credit card (and not a debit card). Even though it had a Mastercard symbol and we don’t have any credit cards that say “credit card” on it.

DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY IN CORFU!!! They are a complete rip off. When we collected the car it was late evening and poorly lit at the car park, he made a big fuss about the underside of the car bumpers and wasn't too bothered about the rest of the car. He told us no need to rush back with the car, only needed to allow a short time at the airport as it's so small. We now realise this was all part of the overall charade. We did arrive back in plenty of time, he went straight to the bumpers, didn't check anything else on the car at all, said it was damaged on the underside, he was referring to tiny stone chips, where i assume the roads in Corfu are not in great repair, then this happens. We could see he had painted over these previously and this is obviously just a big ruse, basically refused to pay our deposit back or return us to the airport unless we agreed to pay 100 Euro. He'd told us to arrive late knowing that we'd have little time to complain or protest in case we missed our flight. He was angry and rude and very unpleasant, a complete con man - avoid at all costs, I wish we had!!!!
