★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ενα πολύ αξιόλογο ιστορικό και θρησκευτικό μνημείο (μοναστήρι) της Ηλείας. Μεσοβυζαντινό.
Από τα πιό ενδιαφέροντα πρός επίσκεψη, αν βρεθείτε στην περιοχή.
Κτισμένο κοντά στην Ομηρική Φειά, εσωτερικό λιμάνι της Κλασικής Ολυμπίας. Ένα λιμάνι που ήταν σκαμένο στην ξηρά, εντός της κοίτης του Ιάρδανου ποταμού. Εξ ού και το όνομα Σκαφειδιά.
Στην τοιχοποιία διακρίνονται υλικά από την κλασική εποχή. Δυστυχώς η νέα εκτεταμένη και μοντέρνα επένδυση με πέτρα, τύπου κιτ, έκρυψε τα παλαιότερα αρχιτεκτονικά χαρακτηριστικά του μοναστηριακού συγκροτήματος.
Το καθολικό της μονής αφιερωμένο στην Κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου, πανηγυρίζει στις 15 Αυγούστου.
A very remarkable historical and religious monument (monastery) of Ilia. Middle Byzantine.
One of the most interesting to visit, if you are in the area.
Built near Homeric Feia, the inner port of Classical Olympia. A port that was dug on land, inside the Yardan riverbed. Hence the name Skafeidia.
The masonry features materials from the classical era. Unfortunately, the new extensive and modern stone cladding, kit type, hid the older architectural features of the monastery complex.
The katholikon of the monastery dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, celebrates on the 15th of August.
