Μια παρέα παιδιών, βλέποντας τη λεοντή, τρόμαξαν και το έβαλαν στα πόδια. Ένα όμως επτάχρονο παιδί, νομίζοντας πως έβλεπε αληθινό λιοντάρι άρπαξε ένα τσεκούρι κι όρμησε να το σκοτώσει. Ήταν ο Θησέας, ο εγγονός του βασιλιά Πιτθέα, ένας ακόμη ήρωας της ελληνικής μυθολογίας. Theseus was the Greek king of Athens, according to Greek mythology, son of Aegeus and Aithra, and the most popular hero in ancient Greece after Hercules. Ο Θησέας νέος και αγέρωχος με την ασπίδα του να ακουμπά τη γή, στρέφει το κεφάλι του αριστερά και κοιτάζεις την Ακρόπολη των Αθηνών. This is one of the most beautiful statues that adorn the area of Asomatos Thiseio. Due to covid the vendors have not surrounded the statue, so you can admire it up close. Theseus, young and arrogant with his shield resting on the ground, turns his head to the left and you look at the Acropolis of Athens.

Πρόκειται για ένα από τα πλέον αντιπροσωπευτικά έργα του νεοελληνικού κλασικισμού του 19ου αιώνα. Σήμερα, μετά από 141 χρόνια, μπορούμε να θαυμάζουμε αυτόν τον όμορφο Θησέα, στημένον έξω από τον σταθμό του ηλεκτρικού στο Θησείο.Το γύψινο πρόπλασμα εκτίθεται στο μουσείο Τηνίων καλλιτεχνών. Ο Θησέας ήταν γιος του βασιλιά της Αθήνας Αιγέα και της Αίθρας. The sculptor created this magnificent work on a plaster model in 1868. He then presented it at the Olympia of 1870. It is one of the most representative works of modern Greek classicism of the 19th century. Today, after 141 years, we can admire this beautiful Theseus, set up outside the electric station in Thissio. The plaster model is exhibited in the museum of Tinian artists. Theseus was the son of the king of Athens Aegea and Aethra.
