Fresh and cheap fish with an incredible view. I tried all the restaurants on this beach, and this one is definitely the better option.

Last of the three Tavernas on the beach - nice view to the beach, you can also take one of their free lying chairs + umbrella. Fish tasted decent!

Kakavia dish (traditional fish soup) is their best. However, service was disorganized. The dishes were served with significant delays and kakavia dish was served 1,15hr after we ordered. We visited the tavern in the evening and several dishes were already in shortage so call them before you make the reservation to ask for it. The place definitely needs improvement to be ranked higher.

long review ahead so TLDR: if deciding between the three taverns - definitely come here. ask for recommendations, must order fish soup. the best tavern in the region of chania. really special and one of a kind dishes. we tried their recommendations, fish soup with scorpion fish & octopus stew with honey. fish soup comes in two parts: thick stew-like broth and fish with boiled vegetables. on the side you get cretan rusks. it was recommended to eat everything together. the scorpion fish fell off the bone, we divided the vegetables and broth, crumbled the rusks onto the soup, topped it with lime squeezes. the taste is MINDBLOWING. we never had anything comparable. really really unique and so delicious. we cleaned the bowl with bread. octopus stew came with a side of fries, the taste is salty, hearty and just slightly sweet. also the texture of octopus is so so good. we tried taverns in kissamos, falassarna and elafonisi beach and also the other two at the beach, the menus and also their recommendations were all very similar. at sunset fishtavern we finally had the feeling of eating authentic homemade cretan food. never before have we tasted anything like the flavors here. we‘re really thankful for the wonderful meal and lovely conversation. 100 out of 10 would recommend.

We’ve been here 10y ago, and nothing actually changed. Still best food, still reasonable prices, you are served by same family just younger generation. View is only a bonus.

WOWWWWWW. Such a special meal!! We had Octopus Stew with Honey and Kakavia with Grouper (per their recommendation.) The octopus was the most unique and tasty we have had. The flavors were great without being overwhelming. The kakavia…goodness, so incredible! We got the last portion of the day and had never heard of this fisherman stew before but MAN WAS IT AMAZING. My husband can’t stop raving about it. It came out potatoes, carrots, onions, pumpkin (?), fish on one plate and a bowl of broth. You build your stew in a bowl. So comforting and tasty. We were also served yogurt with fresh made preserved kidoni fruit (also called quince…similar to pear). Guess what? Amazing again! We bought a jar for home!

I am always in the look for special places where the local products meet tradition and a touch of family business. This place is a true gem, a local treasure. So delicate you fear it may one day turn into a typical touristic place. Until then, one MUST come here. We had 3 of their 4 main specialties and none of them was less than excellent. I'm not exaggerating, look at the photos please. This is a very humble and simple place but still makes it for s cozy or romantic dinner. The location is ideal for sunset. They have some good 6 or 7 tables right at the beachfront and a few more s little bit more inside.
