Gorgeous view from the restaurant and food were delicious. We enjoyed great lunch here. Staff were very friendly and kind. They gave us home made pudding and local hand made harb as a souvenir as well!!! Looking forward to going back for sunset dinner.

Wonderful place to have a lunch or dinner. Place is beautiful and clean, staff kind and friendly. Food is delicious and portions are big.

We ordered pork gyros and kebab. Both were not good at all. The beer is not cold. The service from the waiter is very poor. That is sad because we went all the way here because of good reviews from tripadvisor. We came here around 7pm and it was very hot. There is no shade/ umbrella provided if you want to sit outside to see the view. It is best to come here 10mins before sunset. The view is fantastic.

A one of a kind place with delicious food, positioned in a very unique place. On a hiking path, on the mountains of Crete, we randomly stumbled upon a taverna/restaurant with the view of the entire town of Rethymno and even parts of the next town, Chania. The combination of the sea, the town and the mountains presenting themselves in such a mystic way gives the eyes a lot to proses. Finding this place left us curious as to how it could be here, "this taverna is really hidden, does anyone come here?". When we entered it the taverna was full. Not surprising with such a view. We would have to come back and try the food an other day, after booking a table in advance this time. Even one of the owners was very excited that we found this taverna and gave us hopes of a better luck next time. Her kindness gave us even more motivation to accent the rocky hills once more in a couple of days. This time by car and a reservation beforehand, we managed to secure a table. The table we chose was the one with the greater view at the edge of the hill, giving us the feeling of sitting almost amongst the clouds. After choosing from a small menu of selected dishes typical to the island of Crete, we already knew that each dish was prepared with the home-cooked flair and care. We were not wrong when we received our food by the friendly staff and tasted their delicious food. Dinning on authentic Cretan food with such a beautiful view gave us the feeling of not lesser then "epic". Do yourself the favor and try it out.

The view was amazing, the food was nice, but the best thing was the staff. The waitress and waiter were incredibly sweet, and even offered a blanket when we were cold. We also got some fresh oregano to take home. Thank you so much and hopefully we’ll see you again! Efcharisto poli ;-)

Amazing Restaurant ! The service ist incredibly good and friendly... Bread and oils for appetizers as well as ice cream and fruits were free... Plus Raki... Awesome red house wine...the food is plenty, delicious and fair priced... Don't listen to bad reviews compared to all the great here... The view is amazing, especially during sunset... You won't regret this...we are coming back... Enjoy

It was very nice here. The food was delicious and fresh. The host Maria was very kind. We recommend coming here around evening time so you can see the wonderful sunset over the harbor of Rethymno - breathtaking! (see the pictures attached). Since we plan to move to Crete in this summer of 2022 we will visit Thavma regularly. VERY recommended.
