Great hotel in pure nature. Extreme Friendly hosts. “Αυτή είναι η Ελλάδα”

The room, the breakfast, Marieke and David's hospitality... everything was perfect. We stayed two nights, we could have stayed a little longer

My father and I have just spent a week with David and Marieke at The Merchant’s House. It was a fantastic experience. They were both highly professional but wore their professionalism lightly - quietly making sure that everything was perfect and all our needs met. Our car broke down on our way to them and they picked us up from the side of the road, got us to their wonderful hotel, gave us a cool drink and organised for us to be taken back to the airport for a replacement car the next day. No bother, no dramas: just friendly and kindly competence. They were on hand whenever we needed them and quietly respectful of our space as well. Their recommendations of things to do and see were always spot on. Their breakfasts were hearty and delicious. The accommodation was stunning: a sympathetically restored old house in Old Perithia, comfortable, tasteful, a home from home. Efficient wifi, efficient air con (though my room was cool enough without) clean and modern bathroom, a comfortable bed. I’m racking my brain for even a positive criticism and keep coming up short. All our expectations were exceeded and I hope that I will be staying again soon. I have no doubt the David and Marieke will have many repeat guests, eager to relive their experiences staying at this fantastic little hotel / B&B. Perhaps the greatest testament to them is their clear commitment to (and evident respect from) the tiny community of Old Perithia. The owners of the local tavernas, even the local beekeeper, all knew and clearly admired David and Marieke and embraced their guests into local life. This is something that is only achieved by the authentic, the sympathetic and the kind. David and Marieke have these qualities in abundance, and I would unhesitatingly recommend them, The Merchant’s House and Old Perithia for a different perspective of Corfu.

We’ve been in different hotels in Corfu + all over Greece, but The Merchant’s house definitely wins the award for the best hospitality. You feel at home when staying there ! David and Marieke do their best to facilitate your trip - and are simply lovely people. They completely deserve the 5 stars !

The Merchant’s House in Old Perithia is truly a Corfu hidden gem. Beautiful rooms, great breakfast, perfect base to do multiple hikes and walks from, and all of that while getting to enjoy the magic of the old village!

Not only is the setting stunningly beautiful, David and Marieke are superb hosts. They are incredibly thoughtful and have in depth knowledge of the local area. Our stay was sheer bliss from arrival to departure, and I had some of the best nights of sleep in years! Can't recommend this place highly enough.

This is a really special place. The owners, David and Marieke, are profoundly good at their job. We felt completely at ease here, which is a rare thing even in the most exclusive and competently-run of hotels. Great walking opportunities on the doorstep, loads of incredible food in the small-but-beautiful village, amazing flora and fauna all around and so peaceful at night.

We stayed one night at The Merchant's House and were fully satisfied. Everything was just perfect! The room and the breakfast was excellent. David and Marieke are super friendly. You can understand that everything is done with love. The location is a dream and the special vibe of the village is just magical. We will definitely come again!
