We got our bags stolen from our car parked ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SAME SQUARE where the office is, at 11AM. Policeman tried to discourage us to even file a report, then made us fill a "loss report", said that there is nothing they can do and just said it's definitely been some Roma people. My impression is that the whole purpose of the Tourist Police is to discourage people from talking to the "real" police. My only suggestions are 1) if possible insist on filing a proper report with in a proper police station and 2) if you end up at the Tourist Police, insist on filing a proper report and not a bulls**t "loss report".

Not easy to find. I couldn't see the building and was lucky that it was a policeman in the area to ask. You will need to walk in a alley and at the end you will see the office. They gave me a form which I filled up with the belongings stolen and they kept a copy. While I was filling up the form, another tourist came with the same issue and they gave her the form kind of laughing and rude. Not surprised there are so many pickpockets in Athens. Not control in underground stations and crowded central areas.

This review is for the worst country i’ve ever been to. I’m romanian so i know how bad should look like. I wanted to spend only two hours on a beach in Athens 16:00 to 18:00. We found our car broken, stole from the trunk one almost empty purse. After reading the reviews i’m shocked. We waited for the police to come to the car, one hour, beeing 5 mins away from the station. Wow! The police guy from the station was very nice and helpfull. We lost only one ID. But the country, wow. I’m really shocked. Btw they tried to fool us into a broken glass report, but since we lost the ID we needed for the embassy a theft report. Worst experience of my life, never getting back to Athens.

One star is too much for this place but I have no choice. This is worst place for tourists I have ever experienced. Just after 3 hours arrived in Athens we got stolen. Two workers (I don't want to call them officers cause they don't deserve it) are both rude, impatient, uneducated, unfriendly and unhelpful. they told us that we were luck to wait for 2 hours cause normally there should be full of tourists who wait for registering the loss of something, and their words were immediately proved since a couple we met arbitrarily in airport got stolen as well. Once I was there I realized that it is not possible to get any help. All you can do there is just getting a paper and bring it back to your country to remake your documents. This place is just the small part of nightmare. The awful service from public department and criminality are now ruining this tourism city and leads to people lose their job in tourism industry. All I suggest: watch your property really really really well and be really careful in the metro. Btw, I dont want to give any star to this place and city

I lost my iPhone on the 51 bus to a pickpocket. With no hope of getting it back, I went to the Tourist Police to report the theft. The officers who dealt with me were very friendly and even gave us an excellent recommendation for souvlaki. I don’t recommend getting your phone stolen, but if you do, you can get directions to a good restaurant as some consolation.

There is a note on the door, advising to go to another location. The officers in that other location were very friendly and helpful. Address of other station: Dragatsaniou 4, Athina 105 59

Bad country bad police! Someone stole my wallet in the metro right after I walked out to the train’s door, I saw the guy face and they used my credit cards as well. The police told me to not report it as this would increase their workload.

Ended up in this tourist police station after my phone was stolen. Even though I managed to retrieve the video from the restaurant where it happened, where you can clearly see the person’s face, the tourist police officer refused to see the video and told me that this happens every 10min in Athens therefore they can only provide me with a loss report (not a theft report) for insurance purpose. The person clearly did not care about my situation and did not try to at least show empathy or help me in any way. The tourist police of Athens should clearly rethink the way they work and the way they treat their tourists given their importance in the country’s economy. I am rating them 1 star only because I cannot rate them lower than that.
