★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Monastery of the Transfiguration (Metamorphosis) was built quite recently, and is linked to the nearby Moni Kiriaki, just down the hill. It is run by nuns and, as is typical in Greece, they are very welcoming and keen to show visitors around (at weekends, at least - they are involved in teaching during the week).
The church at its heart is quite beautifully constructed with intricate carvings (there are two lovely peacocks just above the door) that are not at all weathered, allowing you to see the crisp detail clearly. The polished stone floor is also particularly beautiful.
Paths wander through the grounds, passing a number of cave chapels. One path leads straight down to Moni Kiriaki, whilst another cuts across the hillside to a fairly substantial cave chapel with views back to the monastery. Nothing is a long walk, and it is all worth exploring.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place for christians and not only. Since the constructions were finished in 2006, the monastery it‘s quite new, but you can see the imense effort for the constructions and the passion of the nones to join and to assist with such many details the holly place.
Worth to visit even if it just 5 minutes. The surroundings are breathtaking.
If you are not planning to come with a tour you shall know that the monastery is open just on the weekend from the mornings til sunset
