Greatly preserved fortress with an outstanding 360° view. Excellent for photos. The ticket is 4 euros per adult. The mosque is in great condition and the erofili theater. Highly recommended in Rethymno

Well conditioned walls from a quite large venetian castle. Its mostly a surround of walls. But from there you can see the city from above.

An excellent place to visit. Reasonable price (cheaper for families and over 65's) Lots to see and great views. I would recommend.

The castle is kept in almost perfect condition, the visit to the castle is very interesting and the way to it is very beautiful because you pass the beach and until you reach the castle you see crazy views. It is recommended to visit there for at least two hours to walk around and discover new secrets ?

Interesting old fortress that contains a Russian Orthodox Chapel and an old Mosque. Be careful of walking as it is uneven and there are holes and void dotted around. Wear flat shoes and those with mobility issues need to take care. There is one toilet costing 0.5 Euros at the entrance above the ticket booth. There is a small cafe booth serving Greek coffees or iced coffees with crisps and other snacks. There are a range of cafes around the fortress.

Definitely worth a visit as it gets the imagination racing as to what it might've been like living her in Venetian times. It's self-guided but with no audio guide although entrances is super cheap at €4. Best head here first thing in the morning or closer to the evening to avoid the midday sun as there is very little cover. Have toilets and a small shop for drinks and whatnot too. The views are spectacular. It's along the coast road too so it's really one of those places you can't not go to.

As a historical site I’d give it a 4/5. Seeing this Venetian Fortress was an experience worth having. There were some interesting bits of information in the brochure, but nothing written on placards by the various buildings. In terms of our experience as guests/tourists at this site I’d give it a 2/5. There were a number of hazards on the site including a really loose guard rail next to a very deep pit and a bunch of splintered boards piled by the theatre. In general this place is not well maintained. The toilet was also really old and smelly. I also thought it was odd that even though we paid entrance to the site we still had to pay for the bathroom. In my opinion if you charge an entrance fee then that should cover toilet facilities. All of the archeological sites and museums I’ve been to in neighboring Turkey have free bathroom.s Unless you are a historian, the highlight of this place is definitely the really nice views of the sea. I would imagine that there are other places in this city that you could get a similar view for free.

This place is massive for a fort The views are stunning. There are site maps available free of charge in different languages Drinks are or where available at the time of our visit by the main entrance The entrance fee is 4€ each. Please be aware that the ground is very uneven and pebbles and stones are in all walkways Cheers DR
