"Άνοιξα το πρώτο μου εστιατόριο όταν ήμουν 24 χρονών στη νότια Γαλλία, στη Βαλμπόν, δίπλα στις Κάννες, και πήρα το πρώτο μου αστέρι τρία χρόνια μετά. Ημουν πολύ νέος."
"Το 2002 ο Απόστολος Τραστέλης ήρθε στη Γαλλία και επισκέφτηκε οκτώ εστιατόρια για να δοκιμάσει, ένα από αυτά ήταν και το δικό μου. Όταν με κάλεσε λίγο αργότερα να τον επισκεφτώ, πήγαμε στα εστιατόριά του και άρχισα να δουλεύω σε πολλά από αυτά, όπως στην πρώτη Χύτρα και στα εστιατόριά του στη Χαλκιδική και στο Λαγονήσι. Κάπως έτσι άρχισα να ερωτεύομαι την Ελλάδα, που μοιάζει πολύ με τη νότια Γαλλία. Συνεργάστηκα με τον κύριο Τραστέλη επί εφτά χρόνια."
"Η αλήθεια είναι ότι αγαπώ πάρα πολύ την Ελλάδα και αυτός είναι ο λόγος που το 2009 αποφάσισα να σταματήσω τα πάντα στη Γαλλία και το 2013 να εγκατασταθώ μόνιμα εδώ. Μετά τη συνεργασία μου με τον κύριο Τραστέλη έκανα πολλά πράγματα, δούλεψα στην Πλάκα, έκανα consulting στο Παρίσι, στο Λουξεμβούργο, στο Μονακό, συνεργαζόμουν με πολλά εστιατόρια. Στη συνέχεια αποφάσισα να τα αφήσω όλα, να μείνω στην Αθήνα και να επικεντρωθώ στο VERi TABLE, που άνοιξα τον Απρίλιο του 2019."
Να πούμε και τι είναι το VERi TABLE;
"Λέγεται VERi TABLE bistro, γιατί είναι ένα bistro ακριβώς όπως θα το έβρισκες στη Γαλλία, αυθεντικό και αληθινό. Veritable στα γαλλικά σημαίνει αληθινό. Και εμείς κάθε μέρα δίνουμε τον καλύτερο εαυτό μας, μαγειρεύουμε αληθινά – αν, για παράδειγμα, κάνω μάγουλα στιφάδο, θα τα κάνω ακριβώς όπως πρέπει, με το γαλλικό τρόπο. Δεν είμαστε ψεύτικοι, ξέρουμε τη δουλειά και είμαστε προσιτοί σε όλους. Αν θέλεις να φας και να ξοδέψεις, μπορείς να βρεις πολλές εντυπωσιακές επιλογές. Αν πάλι θέλεις να είσαι πιο μαζεμένος και να απολαύσεις ωραίο ψωμί, εξαιρετικά τυριά και κρασιά, πάλι μπορείς. Υπάρχουν επιλογές για όλους. Επίσης, Veri γιατί μπορεί να ακολουθήσουν και άλλα, όπως veri bakery ή veri patisserie. To σκεφτόμαστε. Δεν θέλουμε να είμαστε trendy, αλλά νόστιμοι, να νιώθει ο κόσμος την απλή και ωραία γεύση από το κάθε υλικό."

The food is exceptional, the service is attentive and personable.
The menu is incredibly well thought out, the wine list is varied, and the atmosphere is warm and makes it difficult to leave.
Alain and Christine are the most wonderful people who truly care about their passion for food and hospitality.
Do yourselves a favour and book a table at VERi TABLE when you're next in Athens. Definitely a highlight of our time in the city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went on Friday 7/5/21 for celebrating the name date of my wife and after 6 years living in Athens and dining out regularly before the coronavirus at least, it was the first time we couldn't finish eating the dishes they served us (the tartar and the μοσχαρίσιο γάλακτος). They were inedible. The only reason we did eat a little it was because the prices of the restaurant. Maybe the reason was the fact this was the first night they opened after the second lockdown I don't know. But I intended to surprised my wife with the restaurant after reading the google rate was 4 to 4,5 stars and it was a total fiasco. I don't know if it was a one time mistake or the people don't know what good food is anymore, but I will never rely again on google rate reviews for restaurants of this price category.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The restaurant is really cozy and welcoming. Coming to food the experience is totally average comparing the prices in the menu. The "côte de veau"they mentioned was full of fat and after informing the waiter, that the dish was un-eatable, he did nothing?, not an apology but just a fair explanation for the meat they used and was charged 38 euro. Otherwise the plater with French cheeses was good, and also the couver with great olives, crunchy hot baguette and a big chunk of premium butter. Coming to wine we were surprised that a glass of 75ml is charging from 22.00 to 35.00 EUR, a joke for good not exceptional French wines. Our selection was a bottle of a good red wine from Loire at 36.00 eur. There are better alternatives for a wine French bistrot in Athens..I was expecting more from the chef's reputation..I wonder if any French would pay what he is asking for the dishes he serves..?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Feel like having some authentic French cooking when in Athens? Try Veri Table!! Small and elegant, great tastes, great wines, great cheeses and great home made baguettes!! If you are lucky you may even have the opportunity to taste the divine bouillabaisse!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited the restaurant on April 30st, 2022, a party of two. We were seated on the first floor right next to their wine cellar. For me this is the cosiest maybe table in the restaurant. We ordered:
1) A whole baguette with butter: hot bread served with a block of buttee
2) Jambon blanc with truffles: thinly sliced ham with delicious truffle aroma
3) Escargots (snails): a generous portion with perfectly cleaned and cooked snails and a herb/ garlic sauce. Delicious!
4) Chicken quenelles with shrimp and morels mushrooms: Delicious as well and a magnificent sauce
5) Pigeon with foie gras and white and green asparagus: Decadent and incredibly tasty! Please more of this sauce next time!
6) Beef bourguignon: beef cheecks cooked burgundy style. Meat was tender and very well cooked. I would like a more intense sauce though. This felt rather flat.
7) Baba au rhum: Probably the best baba I have ever tried!
Service was attentive and professional (although I noticed a couple of mistakes that should not occur in a restaurant of this level). What I would like is more options for by-the-glass wine. In the red wines there are only two. Overall, I would say 4.5 stars but if I awarded 4 it would be unfair to them and hence the 5 stars. Would visit again!
