Villa Danai - Νικήτη ΝΙΚΗΤΗ

Long review but in summary AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs. We found this house through Airbnb and made the huge mistake of booking it directly through the property manager, Maria (her company iCheckin), paying our entire 7-night stay (100€ per night for a September stay) in advance. She was listed as a "super host" with only one (not positive) review. It started with her showing up half an hour late for our check-in (key handover) despite us having updated her of our arrival time at multiple points along the way. So we waited there with our young child, tired and hungry at noon after a 2-hour flight and 2-hour drive to hear how she had to beat traffic in her 10 km commute to get to the house. First impression: the house is not clean but then, let's be optimistic- how bad can it really be...and then started our continuous chain of unpleasant discoveries one after the other: the kitchen is super dirty (kitchen itself, oven, fan and dishes), there is no cooking basics (no oil, salt and pepper, cutting board, proper kitchen knife, paper or fabric kitchen towels, etc.). There are two wine glasses, one has two long cracks running alongside it and there is no wine/bottle opener. There is no laundry detergent (there is a washing machine), no extra toilet paper or trash bags. There is no coal for "Barbecue" and the grill is full of cigarette butts (see pictures). Being able to cook was the main reason we had rented a house (vs a hotel) in the first place...The inside of wardrobe and drawers were so dirty (dirt and dust) that we never unpacked. She sent her cleaning lady who did nothing visible except wiping all floors with bleach, so we stayed out and aired the house for another hour after she left before we could go back in. There were two rainy/ cooler evenings when we discovered there are no blankets (extra sheet, nothing) in the house (we wrote her and she brought them the next day). And the last straw was discovering an unchanged and moldy green coffee filter in the coffee machine, bad enough to send the next naive guest to the hospital. We left one day early just to get out of this place. The property manager thought we had no grounds for a partial refund because I quote "this is a summer house by the beach and not a place to raise your child"!! This is plain and simple robbery- what a disgrace.
