Deutsche Übersetzung unten. This was the best accommodation we so far on Crete. The suite we were in had just been opened in April. The suite had a small kitchenette and the fridge was filled with the basics for breakfast (jam, butter, coffee). There was also fresh bread and some cookies which were restocked as needed. As a special treat there was some fruit or cake for the afternoon. The premises are very well maintained with a lot of attention to detail. The new part will just need some time for the plants to grow. The older garden is just beautiful with a lot of places to relax and hang out. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the beach and the taverns of Karo Zakros. The entry Dead's Gorge is about 5 minutes away. The owners made us feel very welcome and were very willing to help or answer questions. The place is very high on our lists of places to come back to. --- Eine der schönsten Unterkünfte, die wir auf Kreta hatten. Die Ferienwohnung war ganz neu und erst seit April in Betrieb. Die Wohnung war mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Ein einfaches Frühstück (Butter, Marmelade, Kaffee) sowie frisches Brot wurde zur Verfügung gestellt und bei Bedarf aufgefüllt. Außerdem gab's noch frische Kekse und entweder ein Stückchen Kuchen oder ein paar Früchte zum Kaffee. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr liebevoll angelegt. Der neue Teil braucht noch ein wenig Zeit zum wachsen. Der alte Garten ist traumhaft und hat viele Plätze zum sitzen und entspannen. Die Eigentümer waren sehr nett und haben gerne Fragen beantwortet. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Die Verständigung läuft aber auf Englisch. Die Anlage liegt ca. 10 Fußminuten vom Strand und den Tavernen von Karo Zakros. Der Eingang zum Tal der Toten ist ca. 5 Fußminuten entfernt. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Yiannis Retreat is located in a wonderful place of Crete!!! The room was very clean, comfortable and traditional!!! Katerina and Yiannis were very kind, helpful and communicative hosts. They are taking care and love a lot their place! In addition to the balcony there is also extra space in the yard with chairs, tables and hammocks. A great place to sit, relax and enjoy the view! There was also a basket full of bread, cake, jams, etc for breakfast! The room was fully equipped and there was even a laundry in the facilities! We will certainly come again! Highly recommended!!

The setting is amazing and everything is so carefully organised, it is obvious that the owners have dedicated a lot of love! Everyday they offer fresh treats like bread cookies and karydopita. The garden is a paradise. A place for your soul to calm!

Yiannis Retreat is like heaven. We wish we could stay longer. Everything there is beautifully crafted with love and care. The garden is a real treasure, designed with passion and understanding of nature. Katarina is aware of every possible aspect to make your holiday special, beautiful, relaxing and … practical. She shares fresh and unbelievable tasty fruit from her garden every day. There are wonderful sunrises each morning to be seen stright from your bed. There are birds, cats, butterflies, cicadas, amazing views and smells; fiesta for all the senses.

A wonderful and pleasant stay. Katrina and her team are friendly and very professional. The rooms are tidy and practical. The gardens with their plants and flowers are lovely to have a walk in. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing, "retreat" is the right name, it's very peaceful in the middle of olive trees fields, and at the same time only 10 minutes walk to the beach and the taverns, and it's ideally located to do the death gorges hike (take the old road to zakros directly left from the Hotel and you can reach entrance A in about 1h15, then walk down the gorges and you arrive just near the hotel). Architecture and design of the building, the rooms and the gardens is top notch.

It is one of the most beautiful places where we have ever stayed on holiday. Everything has been carefully thought providing to the place an incredibly nice and relaxing atmosphere. Katerina was very kind and easy to reach throughout our stay. We are very happy to have found this 'jewellery' and are looking forward to come back soon.

We were struck by the care that went into planning and construction of Yiannis. Every detail is well done. The staff is friendly and helpful. The setting is serene and beautiful. We visited in mid-April, before the tourist season. Three restaurants, all excellent, were open in town, a 10 minute easy walk. During tourist season several more will be open. Well worth the drive! However—don’t follow Google’s driving instructions! Google tried to send us down the 3.7 km scary dirt road with no guardrails to get here. Stay on the paved highway which leads safely to Kato Zakros.
