12 Months Luxury Resort Ξενοδοχείο - Tsagarada Τσαγκαράδα

We booked a room; the check-in time set by the hotel was 3:00pm. In fact, we waited until 4:30 before the room was ready; no one explained to us why the room was delayed. We also reserved an hour of spa including sauna, hammam and Jacuzzi. The lady at the counter disappeared as soon as we entered the spa; when we wanted to use the hammam and the hot tub we discovered that both were cold and had not been previosly turned on, as they should have been. Our room was dirty and under the bed were slippers and socks which apparently belonged to previous guests. When, at checkout time, I informed reception regarding the chain of defects, the manager compensated me with a refund of 30 euros.

(2017) Somewhat faded glory within a fantastic location/environment. We had a wasp nest on the window frame outside and had to move. This turned out to be besides a small road. Tried dinner which was unsuccesfull, breakfast fine. All together we had a nice time.

This September 2021, my wife and I decided to explore one of the last areas of Greece we have not been to. If you have not traveled Greek mountain roads; it is not for the faint of heart. If you are not very proficient with manual transmissions I highly recommend staying down in the valley or near the coast. The trip to the 12 Month Resort hotel was as expected; with the road going up the mountain, becoming very narrow. We were looking for an out of the way resort where we could relax and take advantage of the resort’s services. We paid for an upgraded suite with an ocean view. The room had a musty smell to it so we opened all the windows to air the place out. The views were not as advertised, mostly blocked by trees and the only decent view was from a very small side outside area. We also noticed that aside from the small kitchen chairs and bed there was no other furniture in the room. There were two long meter wide built-in benches in the living area with cushions and pillows. This is where that musty smell was coming from. We moved the cushions to try to air them out and a bunch of various bugs sped away once their hiding spot was revealed. It was around 7pm when we arrived at the 12 Month restaurant. The waitress handed us two old dirty snack menus, food stained and one torn. We asked for the Ala carte menu but the waitress said they don’t open up till 8pm and that we would have to order from the “Snack” menu if we wanted food. The snack menu is basically a burger and pizza menu. We did not want this. We decided to order a drink and figure out our next move. Waitress had trouble understanding the hot tea order and my wife is Greek born and educated. We finished and my wife had to go looking for the waitress to pay. I guess it was staff break time because on our way out we found the staff around the corner drinking coffee and smoking. So, we paid and decided to head back down to the village to get something to eat. We found a restaurant and had to wait to be seated. No problem, about ten minutes later we were seated and had a nice meal. The waiter there said that they get a lot of customers from the 12 Month hotel because of the restaurant’s hours. We went back to our hotel room and killed 3 more bugs. Shut the windows because of the cold mountain air. We needed an extra blanket so we started to look through the closets and found an extra pillow and mattress pad. I tried the bed only to find out that it was really short. It was wide enough for two people but it was very short. I am about 2 meters tall (6 feet) and from the middle of calf to my feet were hanging off the bed. The only way we could fit on the bed is if we slept diagonally. (Corner to Corner) It was late and we decided to make the best of it. Woke up at 0600 and looked to see if there was any coffee in the room. Most hotels have some sort of self-service coffee in the room; nothing. Went back to room and waited for restaurant to open. Breakfast was at 0800. Went in at 0815 and most of the cold items were set out and half of the hot items were not out yet.

We stayed for 3 nights. Positive: underfloor heating, breakfast buffet, friendliness of the all personnel, spa decent and especially during covid time. I wont say negative, but rather things to improve: we tried dinner one night, but we were not 100% satisfied, hence we searched for other places. Room in general ok. Definetely some amenities like billiard, games need replacement. Overall experience was satisfactory and we would visit again.

A wonderful resort in Tsagaranda. Great food and the rooms are very comfortable. But it was the staff that really made this place great. They are all incredibly helpful, pleasant and they went out of their way to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable
