The sand is strange, however:
You sink down to your ankles while approaching the water, and once in there's mostly slippery rocks.
Also there is a strong unpleasant smell coming from somewhere other than the sea.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Agios Nikolaos is a lovely little beach in the small fishermen village with the same name. You can rent boats there to do a trip to Navaggio beach and blue caves. if you are in the south, you don’t need to go all the way up just to pay a visit; only if you are already staying in that part of the island.
