You should definitely visit the small museum just below the church of Dimitra. The Museum has free admission. It is new and modern and has won an international award. The visitor can see the votive offerings of the faithful in the church of Demeter, such as sections of kouros and columns, architectural members of the church from the configuration of its roof with gables, as well as its internal configuration during its conversion into an early Christian church.

Small museum that is included in the price of admission to the Temple of Demeter. Short visit and highly recommended to finish completing and better understand the site itself. Very instructive and didactic, you can see some of the remains found even restored with other pieces made today because they are missing; a scale model of what was once the temple itself; how were the different parts of it; materials and construction typology, etc. We can get a pretty rough idea about its monumental morphology and its meaning and importance.

Overall, it is a nice museum that worth visiting. It is small in terms of exhibits and entrance fee is 4 euro per person. I set 4 star rate because I think that fee should be far lower.

A beautiful ancient site that is well worth the drive and hike up the hill. It’s filled with wonderful history which you can read about at various points around the temple. Take it all in and enjoy !
