Athens International Airport - Attiki Odos

Ok. This Airport is getting a 4 star. And not because of the most obvious reasons at all to be fair. It should really be a 3 star however the smokers out there will understand why that extra star has gone up. Imagine stepping out of your flight and before any checks occur, before any security, before any baggage claim there is this clean smoking area. The staff have been really good even though some have issues understanding English and understandably so. Big issue is, when you land at 4am in the morning like I just have, the amount of passengers in the airport are like the pic attached. This Airport is ghost city. All the shops, food courts and cafes are completely closed. This is my first time here, is this a post Covid thing, or is it normal procedure? What was even more disappointing is that every single business lounge is closed. Apparently everything opens at 7! You know what I’m going back up to mark this down to 3 star. Sorry guys.

This was a great and very helpful airport. I really enjoyed the ambience, the helpful assistance I received and the many options for good meals/snacks while waiting for the flights. Great and sleek modernized style alongside a beautifully classic design. Great experience.

It’s a decent airport with a variety of shops. It’s fairly easy to get around and pretty clean. Getting to the city from the airport on the metro is not well-marked at all, so they could definitely improve that given the number of tourists that come through. It’s a smaller airport and if you’re coming to Greece, it’s a good option.

13/05/2022 I arrived yesterday from Tbilisi, Georgia, rather early in the morning. I needed wheelchair assistance to get from the plane and through the airport to my next flight. The gentleman that assisted me was polite, friendly, understanding and extremely kind. We chatted a lot as we navigated through all the different sections of the Airport. He then spotted on my boarding pass that my seat allocation for my next flight was "down the back on the window side". An actual impossibility for me to do. I'd booked 'on line' for "front row aisle seat". He took me to the check in desk where he explained that this was a mistake and it needed to be changed. He was informed that the flight was full and it was impossible to do. He then spoke with another person that put a message on the computer to see if there was something that could be done at the boarding gate. When the staff arrived at the boarding gate I approached them said hello and was about to ask if they could help when the woman on the computer said, "Are you Miss _____?" "Yes. I am." She then handed me my new boarding pass. Up the front and on the Aisle. I almost cried I was so relieved. The 3 women at my boarding gate B12 flight to Heraklion and the man that assisted me from my plane to my next flight were some of the kindest, understanding and empathetic people I've ever encountered in any Airport. This was my welcome to Athens, Greece. ?? Athens International Airport your staff are SIMPLY THE BEST. Thank you. Oh. And the Airport itself is clean and comfortable. ?

Great airport. Take your time otherwise you'll get loss. There are lots of family friendly and gender neutral restrooms that are called water closets, so look for "WC" if you need to go.

One of the fastest airports we have been in In and out so fast. Train station attached to airport And taxi rank cue may look long but actually goes pretty quickly (Most taxi’s only take cash so if you want to pay by card, make sure you ask along the line for which taxi accepts card)

Airport is small but super modern. The check in counters only open EXACTLY 3 hrs before the flight. We arrived 3.5hrs in advance for an international flight and had to wait 30mins for the counters to open so we could get our boarding pass. Anyways, once that was over, the immigration & security are SUPER fast. Then you are greeted by an impressive and modern duty free / shopping. Great airport.

Very quick in and out. You get on a shuttle after getting off the plane. Short right to the terminal. Go through a covid testing area, if you're vaccinated you go right by it. The baggage claim is easy and you're on your way. It's my first time to Greece, hopefully I'll enjoy it
